I have only used bees wax on small pain...Hi Isabel! I have only used bees wax on small paintings, 8.5 x 11 being the largest. I use an old brush to apply it but then I use a heat gun to melt the wax and distribute it more evenly. I know that other people use an old iron or a small quilting iron to smooth it out too. You should probably use a fixative on your charcoal before you use the wax (if you haven't done that already.)
