Spring Break

***UPDATE***

My sister is offering her Artist's Pouches exclusively to my Blog Followers!! Just visit her blog here and pick one. At $9.50 + Free Shipping it's a steal!! The secret code word is "Sister." Original right? These little bags were a huge hit the last time she made them and I've been bugging her to make more for a year so I'm pleased that she is giving my friends the first crack at them. I keep my pouch full of pencils and ink pens in my tote bag with my sketchbook.
They are first come, first serve so pick them up quick before they're gone:)

Hello Friends,

I'm sorry I have been a very bad blogger. Between workers running in and out of the house, the boys being home for spring break and not feeling all that great, I haven't had the time or energy to do a regular post.

We spent the week hanging out in the yard on the nice sunny days and going to museums on the rainy ones. One day we went to the Garden State Discovery Museum. It's a great little place for the kids to run around and play and learn. Sadly I think this will be Jake's last visit because he's getting too old but Alex absolutely loved it.

Giant Light Bright. They also had giant Color forms.

I loved them as a kid!

Construction site.

The kitchen section of the Diner. Cute little aprons and silly rubber food.

The S.S. Fish-N-Trips.

I also promised to show pictures of my fabulous birthday gifts. These are two of the artsy gifts from my sister.

Mauve and Murray from mummysam. I just love her stuff!! My sister bought me Murray and I thought he needed a gal so I bought Mauve. I just love her hat!

And my terribly talented sister made me this pillow for my red living room.

She knows me so well!

Speaking of my sister, this weekend is our second annual sisters weekend! We are staying at a B&B and going to an antique's festival. Hopefully the weather will be nice.

Talk to you soon!

Mother's Day!

Hello Friends,
I just wanted to pop in to say thank you for all of the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful day with lots of sweet gifts from friends and family. My sister got me a bunch of Etsy goodies that I can't wait to share with you all. Maybe Monday. We will be continuing the celebration tonight with my birthday dinner, because when your birthday falls on a Friday you need to make a weekend out of it, right?

Mother's Day is just around the corner on May 10th! So the Vintage Sister Studio has been in May flower mode the past few days. Here is a peek at a few of the things I have finished. I have a shadow box surprise in the making and maybe a pillow or two.

Everything I have finished (including the "Bathing Couple" from below) will be listed in my

Etsy shop on monday afternoon.

See you there!!

Smitten...

Hello Friends,
Today was the first day of spring break for the boys. Luckily it was nice out so we took a little walk to the pizza place and had a slice. With the bathroom construction going on we can't go too far. The bathroom has been completely gutted and it looks a bit like a scary basement.
I think I'll close the door tonight. Keeeeepy!
Tomorrow will begin my very last year of my 30's! I have some lofty goals set for this year, things I would love to accomplish before I turn 40. I want to be a runner again. I used to love to run. It cleared my mind and made me strong both mentally and physically. Now I walk and I find my mind wandering to things that aren't conducive to de-stressing. I've started already, a little bit at a time. I work better with a deadline so we'll see how it turns out.

This morning the boys asked to play with clay so we broke out the sculpey and went to work. This is what I made. I must say I'm, as the title says, quite smitten with these two. So much so that I may keep them for myself. Then again, I say that all of the time but in the end I put them in the shop for someone else to enjoy.

I hope you all enjoy your Easter weekend! We are doing the egg dying tomorrow and the Easter Bunny is set to hide a bunch of plastic eggs around the house.

What are you doing?

Funny Story

My little dream cottage!

Hello Friends,
I'm sorry my posting has been so infrequent but between the bathroom remodeling, spring class parties and Easter, I haven't had much time. But I wanted to pop in to say hi and I thought I'd share a funny story with you. Because of a few people having to go back to work, I am the only room parent in my son's kindergarten class so I went from being a helper, to being the lone room mom. This is fine, I have been a room parent for Jake for the past four years so I know the drill. So needless to say, I do a lot of running around the day before the parties, getting supplies, planning crafts, etc . So yesterday Alex and I spent some time filling 140 plastic eggs with candy, slicing fruit and veggies and shopping for craft supplies. One of the kids comes up to me in the class and asks me why am I the the only room parent. I told him that I stayed home so I would be able to help out and do things at the school. He then told me I needed to get a job. After I told him that it wasn't polite to say things like that, a little girl said "So you have nothing to do and you just sit at home and watch tv?. " Hahahahahahahahahah! So basically, my husband and I made this huge financial sacrifice and stop working so that I would be able to do these things for my kids only to find out that they really just think I'm a big loser, lol. Just kidding, my kids always thank me for being a room parent and I know THEY appreciate it. When we were walking out Alex said thank you and that he had a lot of fun. That's why I do it! The teacher told me that one time a Dad came in to help and one of the kids asked him why he wasn't home drinking beer and watching Nascar. I guess we know what his dad does;)

The above picture is the cottage that I dream about. It's just for me, only one room. No phone, no computer, miles and miles from civilization. Only to be used on special occasions:)
Look at that yummy roof!!

Have a nice day!

Decisions, Decisions...

Hello Friends,
We are starting bathroom renovations next Monday...I have nothing picked out yet. I'm amazed at how many decisions need to be made for a room slightly larger than my bedroom closet. This is my inspiration...

I'm going for a classic, vintage style. I love the tile in this picture but for the shower, not the walls. I want wainscoting for the walls and a solid pedestal sink. Everything white and chrome. I also love the cabinet in this picture. My big issue is the floor tile. I love the black and white checked tile floors but I cringe every time I think of dirty tile grout on the floor. All those tiny little tiles = lots and lots of grout:(

I absolutely love the sink in this picture but the cheapest one I've found is $800. A little too much for a sink (for me anyway!) The sink we're going with is a square, classic pedestal sink, solid white porcelain for a mere $130....much better:) I figure two more trips to the store and I should have my ducks in a row...I hope. I will share pictures of the after, the before's too icky! Our current bathroom is circa 1980...need I say more?

SOLD. Thanks!!

Have a great night!
