Hello Friends,
As promised, here is a photo of our little water feature. Alex and I really had a good time putting it together and it was so easy and inexpensive! All you need is a large pot- we bought ours at Joann's with our 40% off coupon so we got a good deal. Then we went to Walmart for a bag of rocks, $3.00 and a container fountain kit, $17.99. That's it. The only real work was cleaning up the rocks before we put them in. A messy, wet job but Alex was more than happy to do this part. We took an old plastic flower pot and turned it upside down to put the pump/fountain on top of to make it a little higher and then filled the bottom with rocks. We added water, plugged it in and there it was! Our own little patio fountain. Needless to say Jake, Alex and our neighbor Jared played in it the whole rest of the day making their Lego men swim. We're going to get some goldfish and a few floating plants next week so the Lego pool will be closing:)
I also want to ask a favor of all of you. In the summer I stop watching TV and I try to read as many books as possible. I'm a huge reader anyway but summer TV usually stinks and I find this a great opportunity to get a few more good books in. So here I am with some birthday 'Borders' gift cards in hand and I need some recommendations! So tell me what you have read, what you loved, didn't love. I will tell you that I don't want any depressing stories! I have been reading a few novels by Ian McEwan and that's enough sadness for a while. And don't worry if they are cheesy as long as they are good and cheesy:)

What a pretty fountain! I have one time to read- the only thing that I read is mixed media/craft books! Maybe someday when the boys are older!
Water features always add a nice touch to your garden/patio. My husband did a little pond out front which is still frozen over but will be up and running soon..I hope :)
I use to read all of the time but any extra time I have is now spent on dolls. I miss escaping into a good book.
Well I'm not sure what your tastes are in kinds of books, but one of my favorite books is "Me talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris.It only took two days to read..the only bad part is that I couldn't stop laughing out loud (best to read it away from people unless you want odd looks).
The " Life of Pi " by Yann Martel is another fav. I picked it up three times before buying it. When I read the back it didn't seem like a book I'd want to read but its a rather profound book and the ending blew me away..in a way like the ending of the movie "The Sixth Sense". Not because it was scary but because what I had been reading was something else all along. Sad but worth reading.

Have I asked you before if you had The Principles of Uncertainty by the lovely Maira Kalman yet?? Not a long read but definitely something to pour over for days...Her paintings on over 300 pages!!! yippeee!!

What a great and easy idea, thanks for sharing!!. I recommend you the Marian Keyes books, all of them are so fabulous. Im reading right now WICKED by Gregory Maguire, its about the wizard of oz west witch, her life before she became a bad girl. I like it but its a little hard to understand, but anyway I recommend it.
