Busy Little Bunny

Hello Friends,
I'm sorry I have been MIA this week but I'm trying to get the house together for company on Sunday. We are all getting together for my Grandmother's 93rd birthday. She's outlived her only two children and two husbands so she deserves a little something:) She's also a Leap Year baby so she always tells us she's not really the age we think she is.
I haven't been in the studio very much this week but I have one little project I've been working on and I hope to have a few finished by next week. Here's a peek!

Have a nice weekend!!!

One Word...

AMAZING!!!!!

I took the kids to see Coraline ( click on Coraline to see the awesome website) in 3D yesterday. All I have to say is if you think you may just wait for the DVD, DON'T!! You HAVE to see it on the big screen and you HAVE to see it in 3D. The 3D is continuous, not any taking off and putting on of the glasses. Completely amazing, amazing, amazing!!
Did I say it's amazing? Plus, music from They Might Be Giants? Oh my!
Have a great week!

Family Fun

Hello Friends,
I hope you are all having a nice weekend. I just finished a custom piece for a lovely family in England. It's funny because although they are from the UK, they had me paint them in California to remember the vacation they took there last year.

After I finished, I posted the photo on my Flickr and I realized, wow! I've done a lot of these...17 to be exact. I really enjoy doing the custom paintings because I really feel like I'm getting to know the family. So I put together this mosaic through bighugelabs.com, in case you never heard of it. There are tone of different things you can do with your photos. Check it out!

Have a happy, restful Sunday!!

Sixteen

Lucky holding an awesome yoga pose.

Yep, sixteen. That's how old my sweet Lucky is. Husband and I took her to the vets last night to learn how to give her iv fluids. Eeeeek! It seems her little kitty kidneys need a little bit of help from us so we are gonna do what we gotta do. I was cracking up on the way out of the vets because we were originally told by the Dr. that we would probably have to give them to her once a week. So on the way there we were like well, maybe we can just do it every two weeks. So when my husband asked, the Dr. said "Since you seem to be ok with it, I think you should do it twice a week." It's really not that bad. I just need to get over the feeling that I'm hurting her. At two times a week, that should be real soon!

I snuck into Alex's room the other night to steal a kiss and this is what I found.

Do you think we can get any more patterns going on in this picture? Ugh!

He has always slept with his hands clasped behind his head, even as a newborn. Weird! He always looks like he's just chillin. The boy loves to sleep. The boys and I were discussing all of the things we are excited about for the summer...going to the pool, the beach, no school. Alex just wants to sleep in. Do you know any five year old kids that like to sleep past 9:00? I'm not complaining, it's just strange.

Oh well, I'm off to do a Lego sweep. I'm watching my 18 month old nephew tonight and I don't want to have any surprises:)

Have a great day!!

Busy Days!

Hello Friends,
I just wanted to pop in and say hello. The past week has been a blur of school functions, house cleaning and home improvements. I really haven't been able to get into the studio but I have a bunch of projects all lined up for when I get a minute...or an hour or three.
The living room is finally finished except for the new coffee table that should be here some time this week. I LOVE my new linen cabinet that we bought at Ikea. We are using it to hold books and eventually a flat screen TV will go up top so I can watch my sappy chick flicks without the men in the house complaining. I don't want any dirty boys in my living room anyway:P

I don't know if you can tell but it's a pretty yellow with yellow and white stripes inside.

My favorite lamp I bought at home Goods. I really just bought it for the shade. I am waiting till I find the perfect lamp base but for now the one it came with will have to do.

Cozy reading spot!

Because the couch is in front of the big window, it's now our cats favorite place to sleep. So I have to keep it mostly covered with the big green chenille blanket.
Well, that's it for now! I hope you all are having a wonderful week.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day Friends!!

A heart shaped chip Alex found.

Two pillows I made for my living room couch. The one in the back that is partially covered is made from a funky vintage handkerchief my grandmom found for me where she lives. I am in the process of making some pillows similar to this that I plan to put in my Etsy shop.

A few peeks at the new pillows.
Well, I'm off to clean my very messy house so please eat some chocolate for me:)

Random Tag

Hello Friends,
I've been tagged by Micki at The Art Hermit to share the fourth photo in my fourth folder...got it?

Here it is...

Awww, do you remember her? If you don't, read this. I wonder if she will spend the spring with us again this year. I've been told that they usually come back to the same place to nest. I have mixed feelings about it. In one way it was a great lesson in nature and nurture but for the same reasons, it was a bit stressful worrying about her and the eggs for so many months. We will see what mother nature has in mind.

I started a painting for myself today. It's of my boys in the bathtub. I'm not sure why I thought of the bathtub but I guess I'll hang it in the bathroom. I'll show you all osme pictures when it's finished.

I hope you are all having a nice weekend!

A Movie and a Painting...

Hello Friends,
The other night I snuggled in bed to watch this.

And then the next morning I painted this.

I just felt like doing something a little bit different. I will be putting her in my Etsy shop later today I hope:)

Lookie what I found at the thrift store yesterday...

10 bucks!! It's a bit dusty but it'll clean up nice. It weighs a TON. The glass comes out so I'm going to paint it white and put some cute little plants in it...start spring early. I need to do something to give me hope!
Well folks, I'm off to start what some may call dinner. I do anyway.
Have a nice night!

Damn this economy!!!

Well Friends,
It seems yet another one of my favorite magazine's has bit the dust! I can't tell you how sad I am about this one...my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! I have all of the back issues and I refer to them all the time for inspiration. This is the third magazine that I subscribe to that has ceased publication this month:( I'm a magazine junky!!!
Well Mary, thanks so much for the inspiration you shared with us all...I'll miss you!!!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Hello Friends,
It looks like we are in for another six weeks of yucky winter!

Puxatawney Phil said so himself...

How cute is he? Though those teeth look like they need some whitening strips:)

This is the Phil ...and Bill, I really love!

"Don't drive angry!"

This is one of my "can watch it a million times and not get sick of it" movies. I love Bill Murray! It's "Groundhog Day" in case you have never seen it.

Speaking of love...I am currently in love with this little painting.

8"x10" mixed media on wood

I finished this little guy today and I'm lovin' how he turned out. I'm liking the turquoise and orange combo with the antique wash over top, yummy!

I also made this little girl with tiny safety pin feet.

She's hand painted muslin and stuffed with fiberfill.

I will hopefully have these two in the shop this evening.

Have a nice night:)
