Time Change: Conversations in Our Home

Sunday March 14, 2010
9:30 am

Me: Jake, it's time to get up. It's 9:30 and I don't want you to sleep too late because you're going to have a hard time waking up for school tomorrow.

Jake: But Mom, it's really 8:30.

Me: No it's not. It's 9:30 now. Get used to it.

Jake: But it is really 8:30.

Me: No, really it's not 8:30, it's really 9:30, so get your behind out of bed.

12:04 pm

Alex: Mommy, it's 11:04

Me: No, it's 12:04. We changed the clocks.

Alex: I know, but it's really 11:04

Me: No, it's not. It's really 12:04. Really.

Sunday March 14, 2010
8:30 pm

Me: It's time for bed boys.

Boys: Now?? But it's really only 7:30!

Me: NO! It's really 8:30!! REALLY!!

Here it is, Monday evening, and the time change still hasn't sunk in. Lots of yawning. Lots of debating over what time it REALLY is. I think it usually takes about three or four days for it to really sink in.

REALLY!

p.s. Thanks for all of the kind comments regarding my inability to follow directions. It seems I'm in very good company:)

we had the very same conversation at my house! now my son is turning 17 on saturday so you would think he'd get the consequences of not getting to bed but oh no, Monday morning was tough for him.
