on the table tuesday!

Hello Friends,
I have decided to cut back on Facebook and get back to my blog.
I have found that I can't do both!

Today is "On the table Tuesday" and this is where I will try to give you a glimpse into what is going on in my studio. Monday is usually spent cleaning up the house from the weekend and doing laundry and I'm sure that's not something you would be interested in:)
Tuesday is the day I usually get down to business.

I got an early start last night after the boys went to bed.
If you have been following me the last few weeks or so you will remember me saying I had 14 paintings due by Dec. 1st. Well, I have 3 1/2 to go!
The above photo is the 1/2.
It gives you a good idea of how my paintings get their start.
I'm not a big fan of the texture of canvas so I usually cover it with book pages.
Plus I like the way it adds texture and depth to the piece.

The last 5 paintings are going to be these little girl angels.
I'm debating whether or not to give them a coating of bees wax or not...
hmmm, what do you think?

Here is an actual table shot.
The little girl on the bottom is finished, just waiting for wax, or not.

I am planning on attempting a video.
I know how much I love to watch videos of other people paint so I thought I'd give it a shot.
I'll probably need my 12 year old to help me but that's nothing new around here.

If you ever have any questions regarding supplies or technique, feel free to ask.
Everyone learns from everyone else and I have no secrets!

Enjoy your day:)

I love watching videos to on the artist progress:O)but have not tried myself. Loving the new paintings, I do have a question on beeswax, Ive used it in the past and poured it onto the picture bc when I tried using a brush it smeared my charcoal, how do you do this process? Thanks:O) Have an awesome day:O)

Hi Isabel! I have only used bees wax on small paintings, 8.5 x 11 being the largest. I use an old brush to apply it but then I use a heat gun to melt the wax and distribute it more evenly. I know that other people use an old iron or a small quilting iron to smooth it out too. You should probably use a fixative on your charcoal before you use the wax (if you haven't done that already.) I hope this helps!

I'm also in transition regarding Facebook...I'd much prefer to visit my favorite blogs and communicate "the old fashioned way!"

Ciao bella,

I Love the idea of On The Table Tuesday. More than just seeing artwork, I love a little peek behind the scenes! Yes, I would love to see you do a video and Yes, I think wax would look amazing over the angel faces.

Always impressed with your family/work balance! Happy Holidays!
