keeping my promise.

hello friends!
so far this week i have kept my promise to myself .
not only did i do the four pieces a week i challenged myself to do,
but i did an extra too!

so, the first three pieces were the commissioned piece i did for a spooky time jingles fan and the two "vintage confections" below. but then i also completed these fun houses.

i'm combining my love of books with my obsession of all things home.
each house has an author or literary subject.
see the one in the back?
yes, colin firth is peeking out of his window at pemberly!

i bought these horrible country houses at the Goodwill store for $1.00 each.
i have 5 left so you'll just have to stop back to see who else gets a
vintage sister cottage.

my exciting news for this week is that i am applying to a local art gallery.
this is the next big step for me and i'm excited, nervous, a little terrified.
it's a cute little gallery in the mill race village of mount holly, nj.
mill race village is this charming little nook in town and has lots of cute shops, all in historic buildings.
here is the link to the gallery,
and to the village itself, just in case you're in the area and looking for something to do.

i'll keep you informed as to whether or not i'm accepted.
keep your fingers crossed!

Oh how cute! What a great idea for those stenciled uglies. They remind me of a book I read recently called American Bloomsbury about several authors who lived near each other somewhere in New England. -Emerson, Alcott, Thoreau, Hawthorne. They all sort of mooched of off Emerson. It was kind of interesting how they competed with one another.
I'm going to visit that gallery now--good luck!
Have a wonderful weekend!
