Better.

Hello Friends,
The new year started off a little rocky for me with a little bit of a cold and a lot of depression. Truth be told, I'm NOT a fan of the New Years holiday and it always seems to throw me into a deep funk.
Am I the only one who has a hard time starting the new year with hope and enthusiasm as much as I try?
But today I'm feeling a little bit better and I got into the studio to finish up my second
piece to the Fish Circus series I started last week.

I did this one in a vintage gold frame I picked up on one of my junking trips last fall. It was nice and deep and perfect for the shadowbox treatment. I have one more frame that is exactly the same and another tacky gold frame that I LOVE that I will use for this series as well.
On this fish I used a tiny, tiny little hole punch to make most of the gills.
Click on the photo below for a closer look at the detail.

I need to figure out how to photograph these things!

This series will be on display at
Home Fine Art Gallery in the Mill Race Village in Mt. Holly
next month. If you are ever interested in anything I post for the gallery, please feel free to contact them...or me:)

I am SO EXCITED that the new season of Downton Abbey starts tonight on PBS!!!!
Look at those costumes!
Can't wait.

Enjoy your week my friends!

I'm with you waiting on Downton Abbey. My UK friends, who have seen the whole second season by now, say it's outstanding!!

Our west coast stations had it listed to be on last night - but it was just a tease! I'll be shushing my family tonight in order to watch in peace!

No, you are not the only one that does not enthusiastically welcome the New Year. I have trouble with it every year - although last year was such a crappy one for me, that I was just a tad more excited for the New Year this time.

Love your shadow box fish...and he is a happy creation...makes me smile!

Downton Abbey is one of my favorite shows - love it

Your art work made me giggle - I love the contrasts, fun little fish in an old antique gilt frame. I also battle with the holiday season, and also find the wheels falling off. By end January they normally are on again. Hope you have a great 2012 - happy creating, always a sure way to life the spirits.
