Lazy Saturday

Hello Friends,
I hope you are enjoying your Saturday. I have a touch of a summer cold that I suspect I caught from this little kissey monkey.

But no worries, it has given me an excuse to take a very long nap in which drooling was involved...awesome:)
I was playing around with my "She and He" prints and framed them up to hang in my new NEW bathroom. The former new bathroom is now the old new bathroom...got it?

I'm calling it the "Bee Bathroom" since I absolutely love bees and the room is black, white and yellow. Yum! I am totally in love with the vanity. So not practical but it caught my eye the first time I saw it and I couldn't look at anything else. I may have to tuck extra rolls of TP under my bed but it's worth it.

Here are what the prints look like all framed up.

I also added a new set of note cards to the shop. These are the same size that I used for the framed prints. I just purchased two frames from Walmart, $5.00 each and there you go.

Have a lovely Sunday:)

Swimming anyone?

Hello Friends,
I went to my local craft store to buy a big canvas for my latest family portrait and I came across a stash of ATC size canvas's. So I played in the studio today and came up with these. I will have them in the shop this evening.

the swimmers have SOLD! Thanks!!

Yellow Girl has SOLD too. Thanks!!

Thanks to everyone who saw my "Celebrating Dad" painting on the Etsy front page and let me know. I missed it, yet again, but I'm happy to know It was there.
I'm off to McDonalds for the boy's special dinner out...gross. I always sit there with a magazine and an iced tea. I take them out one night a week and they get to pick the place. Unfortunately McGreazzzy seems to be their favorite. I'm sure the crappy toys are the real reason but it makes them smile and that's what it's all about:)

Enjoy your evening!

Celebrating Dad!

Hello Friends,
I just wanted to pop in to show you the new Father's Day painting I finished up today. It's 8"x10" on a canvas panel covered in vintag sheet music, crackle and vintage text. Lots of yummy texture in this one.
I will be adding him to my Etsy shop today and prints and cards will be available upon request.

Enjoy your evening!!

The Wheels are Turning again!

Hello Friends,
As the title says...the wheels are a turning again. After a few weeks of no studio and almost no blogging I am happy to say that I am ready to get the creative juices flowing again. And I can also let the cat out of the bag and tell you that I've been planning and preparing for my husband's surprise 40th birthday party we had this past Saturday. Everything was perfect. Friends, family, the amazing weather, the fantastic cake my very talented sister in-law made and the brute strength of my best sister Mandy in helping me set up the tents, tables and chairs. We all pulled it off right under his nose and he hadn't the smallest clue. I planned, cleaned, cooked and decorated our house while he was either at work or at the gym. It was exhausting but worth it to see the surprise on his face. My garden even cooperated and bloomed just in time for the big day.

I have been working on the largest family portrait to date...a family of 9. Eeek! It's taking me a while to finish the sketch but it's coming along nicely and I will be sure to show you the end result.

These sweeties were born around Mother's Day and were ready to move out two weeks later. I'm so glad I'm not a bird mama! I'd never let them go:)

I have a few Father's Day paintings up my sleeve and maybe a few other goodies as long as life stays calm for a while. No guarantees!
Talk to you soon!

Helloooooo...is anyone there?

Another use for those strange things the grocery store puts on tomatoes...superhero armbands!
Tough guy look optional.

Hello Friends!

The past few week have been a whirlwind of school events, art shows, spring concerts, field trips...trying my best to get the kids to everything on time and in one piece has been an event in itself. This weekend should be the last busy one for a bit so I hope to get back in to the studio. My head is bursting with ideas!!!

See you soon:)

Happy Mother's Day!!

My wish for today is that no one is around to read this post because you are all too busy doing fabulous things like getting a massage, or eating bonbons in bed while your family waits on you hand and foot. But I know better... wink, wink.
I have been up since 6:00 cleaning, cooking and getting ready for our Mother's Day brunch. Then we're off to my Mother In-laws for another round of festivities.
But I do want to say that my boy's have some surprises up their sleeves for me today and I can't wait to give them lots of hugs and kisses because this day wouldn't be MY day if it wasn't for them. Thank you Jake and Alex for bringing my so much happiness and making my life so much more meaningful! I love you both BIG MUCH!
Have a great day!!

French Fruit? Oui!

Hello Friends,

Well, the demolishing of the second bathroom started today...it was so loud I thought the house was falling down. The poor cats didn't know what was going on. Needless to say they hid most of the day. Here they are after the guys left for the day.

So I spent a few hours in the studio working on these...

...pillows that is.

The strawberry was the "test" one and I decided the black was too heavy and not at all what I was looking for. They are medium sized, about 13" x 13". I'm planning on doing a few shows and these will help fill up my space. If you are interested in a fancy french fruit pillow, feel free to email me!

I bought a few new things to paint on, an old wood ironing board top and a shutter with chippy white paint. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with them but I'm having fun thinking about the possibilities. Hopefully it won't be raining tomorrow so I can head to the flea market to score more vintage goodies. Speaking of goodies, check out my sister's Etsy shop, One Cozy Nest. She's been listing the tons of lovely goods we bought on our weekend trip.
Good stuff!!

Thank you for all of the comments regarding our bathroom. My husband was mortified that I posted the before picture but I figured what the heck! If your gonna do it, do it right, right?

I will leave you with a picture of my crazy cat. She's got a thing for sleeping on her face...and paper:) Have a great night!!

I'd Like To Share...

Hello Friends,
I hope this weekend finds you well. It has been raining for days here in NJ but all is green and yummy so I can't complain...yet. I have a bunch of things to share, most of them are of the picture variety so lets get started!
My 2nd Annual Sister's Weekend was absolutely wonderful! The weather was completely beautiful and we spent hours upon hours digging through antiques and junk. Most of the things I purchased were for my garden. Like this...

A Vintage wash tub that I may or may not paint but it will look great overflowing with flowers. The bird house above the tub is one of my Sister's Weekend purchases from last year.

Here are two more bird houses that I bought from the same lady. She makes them completely out of recycled wood and other odds and ends. The one on the left has a little wooden caster as a perch. The boys and I think it will make a good treadmill for the new inhabitants.

Doc and Sammy, the resident horses. Doc is in his 30's and Sammy is 10.
We fed them trail mix and Salt & Vinegar chips.
Doc gobbled the chips up but Sammy wasn't a fan...go figure:)

The view of the pasture at the B&B.

A very flattering photo of me being eaten by the horses, or so I thought at the time. Will I ever get a good picture with these two??? Last year Sammy shoved me out of the way with his nose. I still think it's because we have the same hair color and he feels threatened.

When I came home on Sunday it was 92 degrees so we broke out the sprinkler. The bathing suits are still in storage so fully dressed was the way to go.

Little peeks at my spring garden and my favorite reading spot. The chairs came out great!

And last but not least....the mini master bathroom is complete!!! Yay!! Even though every single thing I picked out took double the amount of time to install it's finished and exactly like I dreamed it would be. Except for the paint color that I misjudged (it's way too light) but that's an easy fix. Special thanks to Mike, our contractor who always complains with a smile:) Mike is the guy who did my studio remodel so I think I have spent more time with him this year than my husband!

BEFORE: gross, creepy, ugly 80's bathroom. It was by far the ugliest room in the house when we bought it and vowed for it to be the first to remodel. But since no one saw it but us, it ended up being almost the last.

AFTER: So bright and white.

Mike comes back on Tuesday to start the other bathroom. Here we go again....
Well, I hope you all enjoyed the pictures. I am going to try to get myself back in to the studio this week and work on some new things. Stay tuned!
